In 2017 Dot Cotton Crafts joined forces with 5 other talented female Designer/Makers hosting a month long pop-up shop in Sheffield City Centre; We Are Material Girls. The exhibition celebrated the use of different creative mediums (glasswork, silver jewellery, hand-printed lampshades, linocut artwork and more) and how the act of making and creating is essential to our wellbeing. A charity raffle with prizes donated by each maker was held, with funds going to support the vital work of local mental health charity, Sheffield Mind. The shop was a great success and has lead to lasting friendships.
Creatives Kate Cooper and Steph Jenkins launched a sister shop to the original Sheffield Makers at Hunter's Bar in October 2018. Dot Cotton Crafts were delighted to be chosen to take part in this exciting new venture, working together again with Debs Burrell and Sam Groom (both 'Material Girls'), and over 30 other local crafts people and artists, selling the best handmade goods and artwork the city has to offer.
